UPDATE 1-Intrepid Potash shares jump as Koch discloses larger stake

Nov 4 (Reuters) - Shares of Intrepid Potash Inc, a U.S. producer of the crop nutrient potash, jumped nearly 11 percent on Monday after privately held Koch Industries Inc said it had upped its stake in the company.

Wichita, Kansas-based Koch, one of the largest U.S. private companies, disclosed in a regulatory filing that it owned 5.2 million shares of Intrepid as of Sept. 30, or 6.9 percent of the company's outstanding shares. It had owned 1.38 million shares as of June 30, while its subsidiary, Spring Creek Capital, owned 4.125 million shares, or 5.44 percent, according to an Aug. 19 filing.

Koch's businesses include Koch Fertilizer LLC, which along with its subsidiaries owns fertilizer plants in the United States, Canada and Trinidad and Tobago.

A Koch spokesman could not be reached for comment.

Shares of Denver, Colorado-based Intrepid fell sharply with other potash miners after the July 30 breakup of Belarusian Potash Company, which triggered a dip in potash prices.

Intrepid shares have since recovered.

The stock gained 10.7 percent in New York at $15.75 on Monday. The company has a market capitalization of about $1.2 billion.

The fertilizer sector also got a lift on Monday when HSBC upgraded several companies including Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan, Agrium Inc, K+S AG and Mosaic Co.

K+S shares jumped more than 9 percent in Frankfurt, while Agrium and Potash Corp each gained about 3.6 percent and 3.3 percent in New York and Toronto, respectively.

..."Lower potash and phosphate prices, a late North American fall application season and cautious dealer behavior led to this quarter's weaker results," said Jim Prokopanko, President and Chief Executive Officer of Mosaic. "We believe the current challenges in the environment in which we operate, for both phosphate and potash, are cyclical in nature and provide Mosaic opportunities to deploy capital, including shareholder distributions. The long-term outlook for Mosaic remains compelling."
"With excellent crop nutrient affordability, we anticipate strong demand in North America for the remainder of calendar 2013, while international demand, especially in India and China, remains less predictable," Prokopanko said. "We expect pricing to remain challenging into 2014, followed by a cyclical reversion, as demand growth absorbs the additional supply of phosphate and potash. Mosaic is well positioned to take advantage of both the near term cyclical dislocation and the positive secular trends."

Total sales volumes for the Potash segment are expected to range from 1.5 to 1.9 million tonnes for the fourth quarter of 2013, compared to 1.4 million tonnes last year. Mosaic's average MOP selling price, FOB mine, for the fourth quarter of 2013 is estimated to range from $285 to $310 per tonne. Mosaic's gross margin rate in the segment is expected to be in the mid-20 percent range during the fourth quarter. The Potash segment operating rate is expected to be below 65 percent during the fourth quarter of 2013 with planned Esterhazy maintenance after the completion of a proving run....

Traurig zu sehen das manche Personen nur am Unruhe stiften sind und Leuten die hier ersthaft über K+S schreiben wollen das Leben schwer machen.
Es ist mir völlig rätselhaft was einem bewegt sich hier täglich mehrmals anzumelden um solchen Unsinn zu verbreiten!!
