Times Internet Ltd of India and GoConnect Ltd have commenced marketing of the first Indian based mobile video channel, Bollywood Zone TV Official ASX Media Release - 20 July 2005 Further to the release ‘Times Internet Ltd of India and GoConnect Ltd of Australia target to dominate mobile media in India with m- Vision mobile video services’, dated 24th December 2004, the board of directors of GoConnect Ltd (“GCN”) are pleased to advise that the Bollywood Zone TV channel for mobile phones and Pockets PC’s has been successfully launched.
Since the announcement in December 2004, the two companies have been working together to structure and trial the Bollywood Zone TV service, the first mobile television channel specifically for the Indian market. The channel is available via GoConnect’s m- Vision platform http://www.m-vision.tv and via the India Times mobile site http://int.mobile.indiatimes.com/ringtone/intl/index.jsp for access on Microsoft enabled Smartphone and Pocket PC’s.
Local Indian television programmes such as the popular, Manish Malhotra Show, Pooja Bedi’s - Not Just Page 3, Sunita Menon’s - Kosmiic Chat, Dance Divas, Mirchi Top 20 (top 20 Hindi songs), Page 3 daily bulletins on Bollywood celebrities, Sadhana Cut with fashion trends in Bollywood will all be available via the live service.
Bollywood Zone TV is the first Indian based mobile video channel and will be targeted to the growing Microsoft mobile Smartphone and Pocket PC user base. The subscription service is priced at $9.95 AUD per month and is available on a 3, 6 and 12-month subscription.
Times of India as the largest media group within India, will actively market the service to it Online user base, both domestically and internationally to expatriate Indians. At present, the Times of India Group has a readership/online user base in excess of 30 million people.
The two companies are also in discussion to extend the Bollywood Zone TV service via GoTrek’s Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) technology to the Indian market. At present, the penetration of broadband in the Indian market place is less then half a percent of the online population. Hence IPTV technologies in their traditional form can only target a very small audience within India. However with the adoption of GoTrek, Internet television can be delivered to 100% of the existing Indian Internet online population.
